Private hiking to Monte Faito

If you like long walks in the forest mixed with stunning mountain views and seascapes then this is the perfect hike for you!

At 1400 meters above sea level, Monte Faito is one of the peaks along the Lattari mountain chain and lies at the base of the Sorrento Peninsula. It is a popular destination in summer to escape the heat and humidity along the coastline.  As soon as you begin to climb the slopes of Mount Faito the views open up, stretching into the distance across the woods and mountain landscape in the foreground to the deep blue of Naples Bay on the horizon. On one side, you can see the Sorrentine Peninsula and the island of Capri with its iconic Faraglioni sea stacks just off the coast; on the opposite side, the outline of Mount Vesuvius and the city of Naples hugging the gulf.

On Mount Faito it is possible to follow different paths of varying difficulty, through woods of century-old beech trees and panoramic peaks.

Mount San Michele or Il Molare is the highest peak on the mountaintop, and is shaped like a molar (hence the name). The trail passes by the Conocchia cross and the source of holy water, and ends on the peak, overlooking the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. The excursion starts and ends in the same point.

Please note:

Monte Faito hiking is not suitable for those suffering from heart or knees problems. We recommend being prepared with sportswear and trekking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a bottle of water.
